V K Saree

At V K Saree, we operate out of R G Chambers in Vadodara, specifically at unit number 22. It’s a decent place to have a shop because it’s easy for people to find once they are in the building. We’ve been here long enough that the other shopkeepers have become like family. We deal mostly in sarees, and we spend our days talking to ladies who are looking for something specific for an upcoming event or just something new for their wardrobe. It’s not a high-end boutique with carpets and air conditioning that makes you shiver; it’s a regular shop where you can sit down and look at fabrics properly. We have stacks of sarees everywhere, and sometimes it takes a minute to find the exact one someone saw last week. We don’t use any big words to describe what we sell. We just tell people what the fabric is and how it should be washed. It’s honest work. Sometimes the elevator in the chambers is broken, so we have to carry stock up the stairs, which is quite a workout. But we don't complain much because that’s just part of the job. We like the pace of things here in Vadodara. It’s not as crazy as some of the bigger cities, so we can actually take our time with people. We just want to keep doing what we’re doing and stay open for another many years.
