We are located on Karodiya Road in Vadodara, just a short walk from the Krishna Complex. Shri Jay Jalaram General Store is a local spot where people come for their daily bits and pieces. I’ve spent many years behind this counter, watching the neighborhood change around us. It’s a straightforward shop. We have the usual things like grains, spices, soaps, and whatever else a household might run out of unexpectedly. I try to keep the place organized, but on delivery days, there are always bags and crates sitting in the aisles for a few hours. That’s just part of the job. Most of my customers are neighbors I’ve known for a long time. We talk about the weather or the local news while I bag up their sugar. It’s not a supermarket with bright lights and music; it’s just a quiet corner where you can get what you need without a fuss. Sometimes the kids come in after school for some sweets, and that’s usually the loudest part of the day. I handle most of the ordering myself, so I know exactly what’s on the shelves. If we’re out of something, I’ll usually have it back in a day or two. It is a simple life running a store like this, but I enjoy being right here in the middle of everything on Karodiya Road every single day.
