If you find yourself walking through Mandvi Takar Galli, you'll likely pass by Shreeji Khaman. We are right in the middle of the bustle of the market area. It’s a tight squeeze in this lane sometimes, especially in the mornings when the deliveries come in. We start prepping the khaman very early because people like it fresh. The steam fills up the small space pretty quickly. Mandvi is a busy place, and Takar Galli has its own rhythm that we’ve become a part of. We don't really do much advertising. People just know we are here because of the smell or because they’ve been coming since they were kids. It’s a lot of work lifting the heavy trays and keeping the counters wiped down, but we manage. Sometimes we run out of stuff before the day is even half over, which can be frustrating for some, but that’s just how it goes with fresh food. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy serving customers to worry about that. Shreeji Khaman isn't about fancy decor or anything. It’s just about getting the food ready and making sure the regulars are taken care of. We like being in this part of town. It feels real and grounded. Just a local shop in Mandvi doing its thing every single day. We hope to stay here for a long time to come because this street is our home.
