About Shree Radheshyam Farsan – Food & Beverages in Vadodara
We are over on Jetalpur Road in the Chikoo Wadi area of Vadodara. The road is always packed with traffic, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. Our shop is where we make and sell farsan. We have a big stove in the back that stays on for most of the day. We are constantly frying gathiya and papdi. The heat is quite something, but you get used to it after a few years. We store the snacks in big steel tins to keep them from going soft in the humidity. Most of our customers are people from the neighborhood who come by after work. They want something to take home for tea. We don't have any fancy marketing or anything like that. We just put the snacks on the shelves and wait for people to come in. The shop is simple with some basic lighting and a tiled floor that we sweep twice a day. There are always crumbs everywhere, no matter how much we clean. We buy our oil and flour in bulk from the wholesale market. It takes a lot of lifting and carrying. We aren't trying to do anything big; we just want to keep the shop running like it always has. It is a lot of hard work and long hours, but it is what we know how to do. We just keep frying and bagging up the snacks.
