Shree Maha Lakshmi Vijay General Store

Shree Maha Lakshmi Vijay General Store is in an interesting spot in Vadodara. We are located at 11/2, right below the Shastri Bridge on Chani Road. It’s near the Pandya Hotel and just opposite the travel office. Because we are under the bridge, it’s a bit shaded, which is nice when the sun is beating down on Chani Road. However, it can get pretty loud with the trucks and cars driving overhead. We get a mix of local residents and people who are waiting for their buses at the travel office. They come in for cold drinks, biscuits, or maybe some tobacco and betel nut. We also stock regular household goods for the houses nearby. The shop isn't very large, and we've got items hanging from the ceiling to save space. You’ll see packets of chips and small toys dangling near the entrance. We’ve been here long enough that the bridge construction feels like a distant memory now. My cousin and I take turns sitting at the counter. It’s a simple life, just minding the store and watching the traffic go by. Sometimes the dust from the bridge makes it hard to keep things clean, but we do our best with a cloth every morning. It's a convenient stop for anyone passing through this part of town and we try to keep enough stock so people don't leave empty-handed when they are on a long journey.
