About Shree Jawahar Sweet Mart – Food & Beverages in Vadodara
Shree Jawahar Sweet Mart has its place in Vadodara near the Bank of Baroda. We have been making sweets for a long time and the shop is usually full of the smell of sugar and milk. We use a lot of large iron pans to boil down the milk for the different types of barfi and pedas we sell. The counter is made of glass and we arrange the sweets in rows every morning. It takes a lot of time to get the shapes right. During the festival seasons like Diwali or Holi, the shop gets very crowded and we have to work extra hours. We often have boxes stacked up to the ceiling ready for people to take away. The location near the bank means there are always people walking past our door. We see many of the same faces every week. Some people just come in for a small piece of something to eat while they wait for the bus. We have a few staff members who help with the cooking and the cleaning. The floors are made of stone and we have to wash them often because sugar makes everything sticky. We keep our scales on the counter to weigh everything out carefully. It is a traditional way of doing things and we haven't changed much over the years. We take our deliveries of milk early and start the boilers before the sun is even up.
