Shree Hari Foods

Shree Hari Foods is based out of unit 197/6 in the Por GIDC Industrial Estate. Being in an industrial zone means it's mostly warehouses and factories around us. It’s not the kind of place people just stumble into; you have to be looking for us. We handle food production on a bit of a larger scale than a home kitchen, but it’s still very much a hands-on process. There are big stainless steel vats and mixing machines running most of the day. The heat from the cooking can get pretty intense during the summer months. We wear our uniforms and hairnets and spend hours watching the lines. It’s a lot of manual labor, loading ingredients into the mixers and then packing the finished products into cartons. The loading bay is always busy with vans coming to pick up the daily batches. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the batches come out consistent. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it ourselves. The floor is concrete and can be hard on the feet after an eight-hour shift. We’ve been in this spot for a few years now and have gotten to know the other business owners in the estate. It’s a gritty, hardworking environment, but we’re proud of what we put in those boxes to send out to the shops.
