Sharma Sweets & Farsan Dr

Our shop in Vadodara 72 has been a part of the daily routine for people around here for quite a few years. We spend the majority of our mornings in the back making fresh batches of farsan and various snacks. It is a lot of flour and oil and spices moving around the kitchen area. People usually stop in to grab their snacks before they head off to their jobs or school. We keep different kinds of sweets in the glass display cases, mostly depending on what is in season at the time. It gets very hot in the back room near the large frying vats. We don't really bother with big advertisements or fancy signs. Most people in the neighborhood just know where we are located. Sometimes the floor gets a little bit dusty with flour during the morning rush, but we try to sweep it up when things quiet down a bit. It is a family-run kind of place. My uncle is usually the one sitting at the register handling the cash. We make sure the laddoos are shaped well, but since we do everything by hand, they aren't always perfectly identical. It is a lot of manual work every day of the week. We like being a small part of this local area. The tea shop nearby often brings us some chai in the afternoons. That is just how the days go here. We close up when the trays are finally empty of food.
