About Radhika Farsan – Food & Beverages in Vadodara
Radhika Farsan is our small shop on Akota Main Road 4. We focus on making local snacks that people like to eat with their tea or just while they are walking home. The shop smells like fried dough and spices most of the morning because that is when we do all the heavy cooking. We have big metal vats where we fry the gathiya and sev. It gets quite hot in the back of the shop, especially during the summer months. We put everything into clear plastic bags and stack them up on the counters. People come in and out pretty quickly. Most of them are locals from the Akota area who have been buying from us for a long time. We know a lot of them by name. The shop front is quite simple with a glass display case where we show what is fresh. We don't have a lot of space for people to sit, so most everyone just takes their packets and goes. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by late afternoon and have to tell people to come back tomorrow. We try to keep the floor swept because the crumbs from the farsan get everywhere. It’s just a regular daily routine of frying, packing, and talking to the neighbors. We’ve been at this location for years and the road outside has gotten much busier with cars and scooters lately. We just keep our heads down and keep the stoves going.
