Payas Architects

We are over in Vadodara, based in the Akshar Apartment in Pratap Gunj. It is quite a quiet residential area, especially being near Fathrgunj and the Rosary School. Our office has more of a homey feel than a corporate one because of the building we are in. We have been working out of this spot for a while now. Most of our work is about designing buildings that fit into the local landscape. We spend our mornings checking emails and then most of the afternoon is spent on-site or sketching out new ideas. Since we are near a school, the mornings and afternoons can be a bit lively with parents and kids everywhere. We like the atmosphere though. It's a lot of sitting around the table and talking through what's possible on a specific plot of land. We aren't really into big fancy presentations. We prefer to show people our sketches and explain things simply. Sometimes we get stuck on a design for days, and other times it comes together quickly. It's just us, some drafting tools, and a lot of patience. We deal with the local weather and the local materials, trying to make things that actually last. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s how we have always done things here in Pratap Gunj for our neighbors and clients.
