Paresh General Store

We are situated in the Chandrlok Complex at Jalaram Char Rasta in Karelibaug. It’s a decent spot in Vadodara where people are always moving around. Our shop, Paresh General Store, is one of those places where you can find just about any small thing you might have run out of at home. We have rows of jars filled with snacks and pulses, and the fridge in the corner is always humming. It’s not a very large shop, so things are stacked pretty high up. We use a little wooden ladder sometimes to reach the top shelves. The complex gets quite a lot of visitors, so we see new faces along with our regulars. The weather in Vadodara gets quite sticky, so we usually have the fan on full blast behind the counter. We don’t really do any marketing; people just see the sign when they are at the crossroads. Sometimes we have to move boxes around just to make a path for people to walk. It’s a lot of work keeping things clean, especially with the dust from the road, but we do our best every morning. Most of our day is spent chatting with customers while we weigh out their items or pack their bags. We don’t use fancy software, just a simple register and a pen. It is a straightforward business, and we like it that way. No complications, just selling what people need for their kitchens and homes. We close up around nine and head back to our families.
