Om Sai Provision Stores

Running Om Sai Provision Stores keeps me very busy from the early morning until late at night. We are located in the Madhav Nagar area of Vadodara, right near Narayanwadi. It is a nice residential neighborhood with lots of families living in the houses all around us. Most of the people who walk through our door are actually my neighbors. They come in to get their daily supplies like bags of flour, sugar, or maybe some bath soap. The shop sits on a corner, so we get to see everyone walking their dogs or taking their children to the school nearby. I have some old wooden counters that have been here since the day we first opened. They are getting a bit scratched up and faded now but they still do the job just fine. Sometimes the delivery truck is late because the traffic near Narayanwadi gets backed up, and I have to tell my customers to come back later in the afternoon. They don't usually mind because we have known each other for many years. The air in Vadodara can get quite dusty, so I have to spend time every morning wiping down the glass jars on the shelves. It feels like a job that never truly ends. We have a small battery radio that plays old film songs in the background while I work. It helps the time pass when the shop is quiet and no one is around.
