Mahesh Provision Stores

Being on the Main Road in Vadodara, right opposite the Bhathiji Temple, means there is never a dull moment at Mahesh Provision Stores. The bells from the temple are a constant sound throughout the day, which is actually quite nice. Our store is a typical provision shop where we focus mostly on the kitchen essentials. We have big metal bins filled with different types of rice and lentils. The walls are lined with wooden shelves that hold everything from spices to cleaning supplies. It’s an old-fashioned setup, and I prefer it that way. I don't bother with fancy labels or computerized inventory. I just look at the shelf and I know what needs to be ordered. The floor is simple cement and it gets quite cool in the winter, though the Vadodara summers are a different story. We have a lot of regular customers who stop by after their morning prayers at the temple. They usually stay for a few minutes to talk about local news while I pack their groceries into cloth bags. The shop can get a bit messy during delivery days when the sacks of grain are stacked up in the middle of the floor. It takes a while to get everything sorted, but that’s just how it goes. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and the shop has become a big part of my daily life on this busy road. We just keep things moving.
