Maa Flour Mill & Traders

Maa Flour Mill & Traders is located at Shop No.5 in the Chandramaouli Complex. We are right on Canal Rd, near Anandvan Society in the Tp 13 area. Being out here near Chhani Jakatnaka means we get a mix of local residents and people just passing through. The shop is a bit bigger than some of the others because we do some trading as well as grinding. We keep different kinds of grains in the back. It’s always a bit of a juggle to keep everything organized. The sound of the canal outside is nice, though you can’t really hear it once the motors start humming. We spend our days lifting heavy sacks and making sure the grain is clean before it goes into the mill. It’s hard work and the dust gets into your hair and your eyes if you aren’t careful. We don't have a big corporate team or anything. It's just a couple of us doing the daily chores. We like the routine of it. You get to know which families prefer which kind of grind. It’s these small details that make the job interesting. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to sit on the front step and wait. We just talk to the neighbors until the lights come back on. It’s a slow-paced life in some ways, but we stay busy enough. We keep things simple and try not to get overwhelmed when the big trucks block the road outside.
