Laxmi Farsan House

Laxmi Farsan House is on Palace Road, right where the old buildings are. The shop has been here for a long time. We mostly sell farsan and other salty snacks that people like to eat with their tea. The smell of frying oil is the first thing you notice when you walk in. I spend most of my day in the back near the large fryers. It is hot and oily work. We pack the snacks into clear plastic bags and stack them on the shelves. The shop is narrow and can feel a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. Palace Road is always full of people, so we get a lot of walk-ins. I don't have a lot of time for chatting because there is always something that needs to be bagged or moved. We use a simple scale to weigh everything. The walls are a bit yellow from the steam and oil over the years, but we try to keep the counters clean. We don't do any big promotions or anything like that. People just know the name Laxmi and they come in when they are hungry. It is a basic business. We make the food, we sell it, and we go home. There isn't much more to it than that. We just focus on keeping the batches fresh every day so people have something good to eat.
