Indian Hastkala

Indian Hastkala is located at number 71 on the 9th B Main Road in the Charman Layout area of Vadodara. We are situated right opposite the Shree Msoba Dada Mandi, which is a great landmark for anyone trying to find us. The sounds of the temple bells and the people visiting for prayers are a constant part of our day. Our space is filled with all kinds of things that people have made with their hands. It’s often a bit of a squeeze inside because we have so many different items tucked into every corner. We spend a lot of time unpacking crates and trying to find a spot for everything. The floors are concrete and the walls are filled with shelves. It’s not a polished showroom by any means. It’s a working space where things get moved around all the time. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the stock, but that’s just how it goes here. We have a small desk near the front where we keep our ledger and a few pens. The 9th B Main Road is a busy street, but we like being in the middle of it all. People often stop by after they visit the Mandi just to look around. We don’t have any big sales pitches or anything like that. We just let the work speak for itself and keep the shop open for whoever wants to come in. It is just a normal, busy day for us.
