Gramodhyog Gandhihat

Gramodhyog Gandhihat is at 8-9 B N R.C. Dutt Road. We are inside Zaverivad in the Ratanpol Chambers. This is a very old part of the city and it’s always crowded. The lanes are narrow and you have to be careful when walking so you don't get hit by a scooter. Our space in the chambers is filled with different items. It’s a bit cramped because we have so much stuff packed into the shelves. There is a specific smell of cotton and old wood in the air. We don't have a lot of modern furniture. Most of it is old wooden counters and stools. The light is a bit yellow from the old bulbs we use. People come here looking for specific things they can't find in the newer malls. We spend the day helping them find what they need or just tidying up the shelves. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and counting stock. The Ratanpol area is loud and full of life from morning until night. We like being in the middle of it all, even if it gets a bit overwhelming sometimes. There is no air conditioning, just the breeze that comes through the open door. It’s a traditional way of doing things. We don't see any reason to change it now. It’s just how we operate.
