Starting the day at K1/518/3 in GIDC Makarpura usually means getting here before the sun is really up. We spend most of our time in the production area where the smells of whatever we are making that day just sort of stick to your clothes. It is a noisy place, especially when all the mixers are going at once, but you get used to it after a week or two. The floor is always being cleaned because working with food means things get messy fast. We have a small team here and most of us have been around for a while now. We don't really do much fancy stuff, just keep the machines running and make sure the bags are sealed right. Sometimes the heat in the shed gets a bit much in May, but we just keep the fans going and get through the shift. People in the area know us as Iconic Food Products, but to us, it’s just the place where we work and drink too much tea during the break. There isn't a lot of sitting around once the raw materials arrive at the gate. We unload the trucks, check the stock, and then start the whole process over again the next morning. It’s hard work, and my back usually aches by five o'clock, but it feels okay to see the pallets loaded up and ready to go out to the shops. The gate squeaks every time someone enters, which we should probably fix, but there is always something more urgent to do.
