Gurukurpa General Store

We opened up here at Hare Krishna Apartment on Arunachal Road because people needed a place close by to grab things without heading all the way into the main market. It is just a small corner really, packed with bags of rice, different kinds of dals, and all the little things like matches or soap that you forget you need until you run out. Most mornings start early around seven when the milk arrives. I usually have to move some crates around just to make space for people to stand. It gets a bit crowded behind the counter especially when the school kids come by for snacks, but we manage somehow. My hands are usually dusty from handling the grain sacks or counting out change. The fan doesn't always work like it should during the summer heat here in Odhav, so it gets a bit stuffy inside. We don’t have fancy shelves or anything, just some old wooden racks that have been here since we started. Sometimes people just stop by to talk about the weather or what is happening on the road outside while I look for their brand of tea. It is a bit loud because of the traffic on Odhav Road, but you get used to it after a few years. We try to keep everything stocked up so nobody has to go home empty-handed. It is just a regular life here, selling groceries and keeping the shop running day after day.
