Giriraj Sweet & Farsan Mart

In the heart of Vadodara, on Hingwala Lane, you’ll find Giriraj Sweet & Farsan Mart at number 6. We have been in this spot for quite some time. The shop is usually filled with the smell of frying snacks and sugar syrup. It’s a small space, and we often have to squeeze past each other to get things done. We make everything right here. There are big trays of sweets lined up in the glass cases, and we spend a lot of time bagging up farsan for people to take home. The street outside is narrow, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze with the scooters and bicycles that fly past. We know the neighbors well and often trade stories over the counter when things are slow. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy packaging. We just use plain bags and boxes. Our hands are usually covered in flour or sugar by the end of the day. It’s a lot of standing and moving around, which gets tiring, I suppose. But we like the routine of it all. People come to us for their festivals and daily snacks, and we try to have enough ready. Sometimes we run out of the popular items early and have to tell people to come back tomorrow. That's just how it goes at Hingwala Lane. We’re just a local mart trying to keep the traditions going in Vadodara as much as we can.
