Our small office is located at 149, Kanha Residency, right near St Basil School in the Maretha area of Vadodara. If you know the village, you know it's a quiet enough place most of the time. The Gac Charitable And Welfare Council is really just a bunch of neighbors who wanted to do something for the people living around here. We aren't a big city organization with a massive budget. Most of what we do happens right here in this room or out on the streets of Maretha. We spend a lot of time talking to the families nearby. It's about looking out for one another. Sometimes that means helping a student or checking in on the older folks. We don't have a glossy brochure or a fancy website. This place is pretty basic. You’ll usually find someone here during the day sipping tea and going over the books. Being in Vadodara, things change fast, but we try to keep our focus on our local corner. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up. We don't make any grand promises. We just show up and see what needs doing. It’s honest work and it keeps us connected to the ground. If you are passing by the school, you’ll likely see our sign. We've stayed in this same spot because it's where people know to find us. It’s not perfect, but it works for us and the people we try to help.
