Shri Shroff Foundation Trust Gaushala

The gaushala is out in Kalali, where there is a bit more space for the animals. It’s a lot of work every single day, starting very early before the sun is even up. We have to feed the cows, clean out the sheds, and make sure they have enough water. It’s a messy job and your clothes always end up smelling like hay and earth. But that is just how it goes when you work with animals. We are not a big corporate entity. It’s just a trust that looks after these cows because they need a place to stay. Kalali is changing fast with new buildings, but we are still here doing the same things we’ve done for years. Sometimes people from the city come by to see the cows or bring some grain. We appreciate the extra hands because there is always more to do than there are people to do it. The cows have their own personalities, and you get to know them after a while. Some are grumpy and some are very calm. Shri Shroff Foundation Trust Gaushala is a practical place. We don't have fancy equipment, just buckets, shovels, and a lot of hard work. It’s a quiet life, mostly filled with the sound of the animals and the wind. We just keep at it, day in and day out. It’s a long day but the animals are cared for.
