You can find Shree Ganga Restaurant over at 50, Amar Singh Marg in the Freeganj area of Ujjain. We are quite close to Tower Chowk, which is a major point in the city where everyone meets up. Our place is usually filled with the sounds of the street and the clinking of plates. Ujjain is a city where people are always on the move, especially those visiting the temples. We see a lot of those folks coming in for a quick bite before they head back out. The restaurant is an old-fashioned kind of place. We have basic wooden furniture and a kitchen that stays busy from the early hours. There is no air conditioning, just ceiling fans that hum all day long. We focus on getting the food out fast because people in Freeganj are usually in a hurry. Our staff is a small group, and we all pitch in with everything, from taking orders to cleaning the floors at night. It’s a humble spot, and we don’t put on any acts. We just serve the same kind of food we would eat at home. When the festivals come around, the whole area gets incredibly crowded, and we are right in the middle of it all. It’s a lot of work, but we like being part of the daily life here near Tower Chowk. The door stays open to catch whatever breeze there is, even when the street is dusty.
