If you’re walking down Mahakal Road toward the temple, you’ll find us at 204/1 Topkhana. Being so close to the Mahakal Mandir means we see a lot of pilgrims and travelers every day. It gets very crowded during the festivals, and the whole street feels alive with people shouting and bells ringing. We started this restaurant because we wanted a place where families could sit down and have a decent meal after their prayers. Ujjain is a special city, and being right here in the heart of it is something we don't take for granted. The kitchen stays busy from morning until night, and the smell of spices usually fills the air long before we even open the doors. We have some wooden chairs that have been here since day one, and they’ve seen thousands of people come through. My wife handles the accounts, and I stay in the back making sure the food is coming out right. Sometimes the electricity goes out when it rains hard, and we have to scramble to get the candles lit. It’s just how things go around here. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so many people walking in from the dusty streets, it’s a constant battle with the mop. We like talking to the visitors who come from far away places like Delhi or South India; they always have interesting stories to tell about their long journey to the temple.
