If you go down Bhamashah Marg, you’ll find us surrounded by bundles of wire and colored bulbs. Vinayak Electric Decorators isn't a quiet place. We are usually testing lights or fixing some old equipment that’s seen better days. When festival season comes around, things get really hectic. We spend a lot of time out on the road, climbing ladders and stringing up lights for parties or religious events. My hands are usually stained with a bit of grease or dust from handling all those cables. Bhamashah Marg is a busy stretch, so there is always something going on outside the shop. Our workspace isn't like those big showrooms with fancy displays. It’s mostly just boxes stacked up and tools lying around on the workbench. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a job, drinking tea from the stall nearby just to keep going. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, so there is always someone popping in to borrow a screwdriver or just to talk for a minute. It is hard work, especially in the heat, lugging those heavy generators and rolls of wire around, but we’ve been doing it so long it just feels normal now. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just show up, put the lights where they need to go, and hope they stay bright through the whole night.
