Mahesh Electric

Mahesh Electric is situated over on Bedla Road, near the old Chunginaka. It is a small shop but we try to keep it organized with all the different wires and switches. We spend a lot of time behind the counter, testing light bulbs or fixing small appliances that people bring in. There are coils of black and red wire hanging from the walls and boxes of fans stacked near the entrance. The floor is concrete and usually has some bits of stripped wire laying around. We get a lot of guys coming in who are working on construction nearby, looking for specific fuses or PVC pipes. It can get a bit dark in the back of the shop, so we have a few bright tubes always running. We don’t use any computers, just a simple pad of paper for the bills. The road outside is always busy with people heading toward the main city. Sometimes we go out to help someone with a wiring problem at their house, but mostly we are right here. It’s not a fancy place, just a local spot where you can get a replacement plug or a new ceiling fan. We've been at this location for years and have seen the neighborhood change a lot around us. We just keep the shelves stocked and the tester ready. I usually drink my tea while sitting on a plastic stool by the door and watching the trucks go by.
