About The Kamal Sharma Art Gallery – Art & Craft in Udaipur
We have been here at 15-A, New Colony for a while now. The Kamal Sharma Art Gallery isn't some big fancy museum with marble floors. It’s mostly just a few rooms in the Kalaji-Goraji area where we keep the pieces we've collected or made. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in here. We spend a lot of our time moving frames around or cleaning off the dust that settles on the glass. People come in from the neighborhood to look around, and that's fine. It started out as a small project and just stayed that way. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. If you walk past the main road, you'll find us tucked away. The lighting isn't always perfect, but we try to keep things organized so you can actually see the work. Some days it’s quiet, other days we’re busy packing things up to send out. There’s always some smell of paint or wood around. We like being in this part of town because it’s familiar. We don't do big openings or anything. We just open the doors in the morning and see who stops by. It’s a simple setup, really. Just art on the walls and us trying to keep it all together. Nothing more to it than that. We've got plenty of stuff tucked in corners too. It’s been a long time since we first opened, and not much has changed about the way we do things.
