Rukmani Art Gallery

Being out here on Bhuwana National Hayway means we see a lot of traffic passing by all day long. Rukmani Art Gallery is right where the road gets busy with trucks and travelers heading out of town. It’s a bit different from the shops in the middle of the city because we have more space but it gets much dustier. Most of the time we are just busy rearranging the frames or cleaning the glass on the bigger pieces. It’s a large room and sometimes it feels a bit empty until a group of people pulls over to take a look. We don’t really do anything fancy with the display, we just put things where they fit. My brother and I usually handle the heavy lifting when new items arrive from the workshops. The light comes in quite strong in the mornings through the front windows so we have to be careful where we put the more delicate stuff. It gets quiet in the late afternoon for a bit before the evening rush starts again on the road. We keep a small kettle in the back for making coffee when it gets cold or when we’re staying late to finish up some paperwork. It’s a straightforward kind of life running a place out here. We’ve been at this location for a while now and we know all the drivers who stop at the tea stall next door.
