About Tater Tent House – Event & Planning in Udaipur
Bhopalwadi 100 is where we keep all our stuff. If you walked into Tater Tent House right now, you’d see stacks of iron poles and folded up fabrics in all sorts of colors. It’s a bit of a maze back there. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading the small trucks we use. When wedding season hits, things get pretty chaotic. We are up at all hours setting up tents and making sure the carpets are laid out straight. It’s physical work and your hands get rough from handling the ropes and the metal. My father used to do this too, so I grew up around the smell of heavy canvas and the sound of hammers. Bhopalwadi is a narrow place, so getting the trucks in and out takes some skill. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. People usually just come to the office at 100 to talk about what they need for their function. We write everything down in a big ledger book. Sometimes the rain causes problems and we have to rush to dry everything out before it gets ruined. It’s not a glamorous job, but we like being part of the local celebrations. You see a lot of happy families in this line of work. Then the event ends and we go back to pull it all down and pack it away again for the next time someone needs us.
