Shree Vinayak Pattal Bhandar

We are located at Moti Market 1, right in the Meena Pada area of Nehru Bazar. What we mostly do at Shree Vinayak Pattal Bhandar is keep stacks and stacks of those leaf plates and bowls, what everyone calls pattals. We also have the paper ones and plastic cups and spoons for parties or weddings. It’s a messy business because the bundles are big and take up all the room. The shop is usually full of the smell of dried leaves. When wedding season starts, we barely have room to stand. We have to load stuff onto rickshaws all day long. My hands often get dry from handling all the paper and cardboard. It’s a very old-fashioned market, so you’ll see people arguing over prices or just stopping to chat. We don’t have a fancy display, just piles of goods reaching the ceiling. Sometimes the bundles get a bit torn during shipping, but we sort through them. I start early in the morning because that's when the vendors come to buy their supplies. It's a simple shop and we don't bother with much decoration. The floor is usually covered in scraps of packing tape and plastic bits. People in the market know where we are if they need bulk supplies for a big feast. We’ve been here at this address for years and haven't changed the way we do things much. Sometimes we stay open late for emergencies.
