Seemin Republic Sec School

If you know Udaipur, you know how busy it gets around Delhi Gate and Ashwani Bazar. That is where Seemin Republic Sec School is tucked away. It is right in the middle of all the noise and the local shops. Being inside the city means space is a bit tight, but we make it work for the students. The building has been here for years, watching the traffic go by every day. Most of the students walk here from the surrounding narrow lanes. It is a secondary school, so the older kids are always hanging around the entrance before the first bell rings. We do not have a big fancy field, but the kids find places to play. The hallways are narrow and you can hear the echoes of teachers talking in the rooms. Sometimes the smell of street food from the bazaar drifts in during the afternoon. It is a very local Udaipur scene. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place clean because of all the city dust. The staff knows everyone’s names because we have lived in this neighborhood for a long time. It isn't some polished institution you would see in a magazine. It is just a school in the heart of the city where people go to learn. We keep the gates locked during school hours because the bazaar is so busy. Once the final bell rings, the whole place empties out fast into the Delhi Gate traffic. That is just our daily life.
