Mahaveer Public School

If you head over to Rishabhdeo in Udaipur, you’ll find Mahaveer Public School at Taxsheela Krishnaghat. It is a part of Rajasthan that can get really hot during the summer months, so we spend a lot of time making sure the rooms stay as cool as possible for everyone inside. The school has been part of this local landscape for a while. We aren’t located in some big modern tower; it’s just a practical building that serves the families living around here. There is usually a lot of chatter in the morning when the kids arrive and start settling into their routines. We keep the gates open and watch the traffic go by on the main path. The staff spends their time organizing papers, dealing with the daily schedule, and making sure the boards are clean for the next lesson. It’s a lot of mundane work, but it’s what makes the school function day after day. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts or a leak in the ceiling when it finally rains, but we just manage it as it comes. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local school where students from the 313802 area can come and learn. It is a bit loud and messy at times, especially during the lunch break when everyone is out in the yard, but that’s just the reality of a busy school day in this part of Udaipur.
