Our shop, Fine Art, is located at 166 City Palace Road. It’s right in the middle of things, so it gets pretty lively around here with all the traffic and pedestrians. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the building itself has a lot of character, even if it’s a bit drafty in the winter. We deal with various art pieces and frames. The back room is usually full of sawdust and bits of glass because we do a lot of the assembly right there. It’s not a polished gallery like you might see in a big city. It’s more of a working shop where things are actually made by hand. The walls are covered in half-finished projects and old sketches we never got around to finishing. Sometimes it’s hard to find a clear spot on the counter because we’re always in the middle of something. We get all sorts of people coming in, from neighbors to tourists walking down City Palace Road. We don’t use any high-tech systems; it’s mostly just us writing things down in a paper ledger and keeping track of orders that way. The smell of paint and wood is always in the air. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the materials. It’s a simple life, working with our hands and seeing the finished results at the end of the day. It’s what we enjoy doing.
