About B. G. Sharma Art Gallery – Art & Craft in Udaipur
We’ve been at 3, Saheli Marg for quite a long time now. It’s a quiet spot near the park, which is nice because it isn't too noisy during the day. We mostly have traditional paintings and some older styles of art here. My uncle was the one who really got things going because he just loved the local history and the way people used to paint. It isn't a massive gallery with bright lights and fancy music. We just have the pieces hanging on the walls for people to look at. Some folks come in just to escape the heat and end up staying to chat about the different scenes in the frames. We try to keep the place tidy but sometimes there are stacks of things in the corner that we haven't found a spot for yet. It’s just me and one other person here most of the time. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open the doors in the morning and see who walks in. The building itself is a bit old, so the floors creak a little, but it adds to the feel of the place. We’re just a regular local business trying to keep these traditional arts alive without making a big fuss about it. If you are walking down Saheli Marg, you can't miss the entrance. We are usually here until the evening, just taking things one day at a time. It’s a simple way to spend the day.
