Venus Internatinol School

Venus Internatinol School is located out in Gubbi, near Chelur in the Tumkur district. Even though the name sounds a bit grand, we’re actually a pretty modest setup. The school is surrounded by a lot of open land, which is nice because it’s a bit quieter than being right in the center of a big city. We have a yellow bus that goes around the nearby villages to pick up the students every morning. It’s usually a bit of a squeeze, but the kids enjoy the ride. Inside the building, things are pretty simple. We have the usual rows of benches and blackboards. We did manage to get a few computers a couple of years back, and the older kids take turns using them in the small room we set aside for that. The teachers come from various parts of Tumkur, and they usually arrive together on their scooters. Lunchtime is always a bit chaotic with everyone opening their bags at once. We don't have a big fence, just a low wall, so you can see what's happening from the road. The office is just a small room near the entrance where we keep the records in big paper folders. It’s a practical place where we just get on with the day. Sometimes the paint peels a bit on the outside, but we fix it when we can afford to do the work ourselves.
