Nehru English School

Our school is right on the Tumkur Kunigal Road in Guluru. If you are driving down that way, you will see our gate easily enough. Nehru English School has been around for a while now, serving the local families in the Gulur area. It’s an English medium school, but we all speak the local language when we are just chatting in the hallways or during the lunch break. The building is a bit old and has a few cracks here and there, but it is sturdy. We have a small playground that gets quite dusty when the wind blows from the road. The children don't seem to mind much, though. Inside, the classrooms are basic. We have wooden benches and blackboards that we've used for years. During the monsoon season, we sometimes have to deal with a bit of mud near the entrance, but we just put down some stones. The teachers are mostly from nearby places in Tumkur, so they know the families well. We don't have fancy computers for every child or a big library. We just have the books we need and a place for the kids to sit and learn. It’s a noisy place when the bell rings, and that is just how a school should be. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the children are actually studying their lessons. It’s a regular local school without any big pretenses.
