Sri Ganesh Cement Works

Our place, Sri Ganesh Cement Works, is on Tanjore Main Road, right across from the old dairy farm. It is easy to find because we usually have some of our cement items sitting out near the road. We make things like rings, slabs, and other small construction parts. The ground is always covered in a layer of grey dust, which is just part of the job. We have been at this spot for a long time, and the building is just a simple shed where we keep the materials. We spend the morning mixing and pouring, and then the rest of the day is spent checking the molds or loading things onto trucks. It is noisy because of the traffic on the main road and the mixers running. Sometimes the molds get stuck or the mix isn't just right, so we have to start over. We are just a local crew, and we don't spend much on advertising or fancy signs. Most people just pull over when they see us working. We drink tea from the stall nearby and keep working until the sun sets. It is a lot of lifting and moving heavy stuff, so we keep ourselves busy. We have a few cats that hang around the yard too. It’s just a normal workday for us and we just take it as it comes.
