Arun Cement Works

Out on Sirugambur Road in Manachanallur, you'll find our cement works. We’ve been at number 206 for a good while. My father started this work, and now I'm the one spending most of my time here. We make various cement products, like rings and blocks, that people use for their wells or building projects. It’s a very hands-on process. We mix everything right here on the lot. The dust is something you just get used to after a few years. Manachanallur is a growing place, so there’s always someone building something new. We aren't a massive factory; it's more of a backyard operation that grew over time. I usually have a few guys helping with the heavy lifting and the molds. We don't have a sales team or anything like that. If someone needs something, they just drive up and talk to me. I try to give people a fair deal without any nonsense. Sometimes the batches don't set quite right because of the humidity, and we have to start over. It's frustrating, but you can't fight nature. We just keep going.
