Payyoor Lp School

Payyoor Lp School is tucked away in Kanipayyur, which is a quiet part of Thrissur. It’s a small place, and if you aren't looking for it, you might even miss the turn-off. We have been here for years, and many of the parents who bring their kids now actually studied here themselves back in the day. The school has a very relaxed feel to it. There are big trees that give plenty of shade in the courtyard, which is great because the sun gets very strong in the afternoons. The classrooms are simple with wooden desks that have many names carved into them over the years. We have a bell that we ring by hand to mark the start and end of classes. The teachers often bring snacks from home to share, and there is always a bit of tea being made in the small staff room. We don't have a big budget for things, so we make do with what we have. Sometimes the roof tiles need replacing or the gate gets a bit rusty and squeaky, but that’s just part of managing an old building. The kids are mostly from the farms and houses nearby. It’s a peaceful spot where the biggest excitement is usually a school function or a heavy rainstorm. We just focus on teaching the kids how to read and write and making sure they are safe while they are with us.
