Blangad Beach L P School

We are located right on the Chavakkad Beach Road in Blangad. Being so close to the sea means we get a nice breeze most days, though the salt air does a number on the paint of our building. This is a lower primary school, so our halls are always filled with the sounds of younger children. It's a small place, nothing like those big city schools you see on TV. We have kids from the fishing families nearby and other locals from Thrissur. The classrooms are basic with wooden benches that have seen better days. During the monsoon, the sound of the rain on the roof is so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard. We don't have a big fancy computer lab or anything like that. Instead, we have teachers who have been here for decades and know every family in the village. The children play in the sand outside because that's what we have plenty of. It's a very relaxed environment, maybe a bit too relaxed sometimes. We have our daily routines and we stick to them. Most of the parents are our old students, so there's a lot of history in these walls. It’s just a small school by the beach where we try to teach the basics and keep the kids safe until their parents pick them up. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day.
