Divya Beautyparlour

Divya Beautyparlour is at No.4, Lakshmi Amman Street in Kolathur. We are just a short walk away from the Ganga Theatre. Most people use the theatre as a landmark to find where we are located in this area. It’s a ladies only place. My sister and I decided to open this because there weren't many spots for women to get their eyebrows done nearby. We have a small room in the front of our house for the shop. We painted the walls a light pink color. It’s not a professional studio or anything like that. Just a comfortable place where neighborhood women come to talk and get their hair oiled or braided. We do threading and basic facials too. We use simple products that we buy from the local market nearby. There is a small plastic bench for waiting. Usually, there is a kid or two running around because the mothers bring them along while they get work done. We don't mind the noise. Lakshmi Amman Street is a very friendly place to live and work. We know most of the people living in the houses next to us. Sometimes we share our tiffin during the lunch break. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just hear about us from their friends and neighbors. We try to keep the prices low so everyone can afford to come. It’s a small business but it keeps us busy and we like meeting everyone from the Kolathur neighborhood.
