Calix Beauty Saloon

Calix Beauty Saloon is my small place in Villivakkam. It’s at NO: 14A, Abirami Nagar on the Kolathur Road. We are quite close to Silandhi Kuttai, which is a local landmark. I started this shop because I wanted to work for myself and I knew this area well. It’s mostly houses around here, so my customers are my neighbors. The shop isn't very large, but I’ve arranged the chairs and mirrors to make the most of the space. I have a small bench outside for when people are waiting and it’s a nice day. Inside, I keep a fan running all the time because it gets quite warm. I don't use any fancy machines, just my scissors, clips, and razors. I spend a lot of time cleaning up after a busy morning. The Kolathur Road can get quite a bit of traffic, but Abirami Nagar itself is a bit quieter. I like the peace and quiet of this side of town. I usually have some local magazines for people to look at while they wait. My brother helps me out sometimes during the holiday season. We don't do any big advertising, just a board outside the door. Most people find out about us by just walking past or talking to their friends. It’s a humble business and it pays the bills. I take pride in keeping the tools clean and being ready when the door opens.
