Shankheshwar Steel

Shankheshwar Steel is located over in Piplod 4. It is a heavy-duty kind of place. We don't have many small things here; it is mostly big pieces of steel and metal. Working with steel means you have to be strong and you have to be careful. The shop is basically a large warehouse area where we store different types of rods, sheets, and pipes. It is usually quite loud because when you move steel around, it clangs and echoes against the walls. We wear thick gloves most of the time to keep our hands from getting cut or burnt by the metal. The floor is grey concrete and usually has some metal shavings scattered around. We have a big gate so the trucks can back in to load up. It takes a lot of coordination to get everything moved without bumping into anything. Piplod is a busy enough area, but our section stays mostly focused on the industrial side of things. We don't get many random people walking in; it is usually contractors or people who need something specific built or delivered. Some days are spent just counting inventory and making sure everything is stacked safely. It is physical work and we are usually pretty tired by the end of it. The smell of cold metal and machine oil is everywhere. We just focus on getting the orders right and moving the heavy stuff where it needs to go. That is basically what happens here every day from dawn to dusk.
