We've been here at Nanavat for a while now. It gets pretty hot around City Light Road, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop directly. Most days involve handling old batteries and checking connections for people who stop by Hanuman Pole. It’s not fancy work, but it keeps us busy and the time goes by fast. Sometimes the shop gets a bit messy with all the plastic casing and lead lying around, but we know where everything is kept. People usually come in when their bike or car won't start, and they're usually in a bit of a hurry or frustrated. We just try to get things sorted so they can get back on the road without too much fuss. The traffic outside is always loud and never seems to stop. There's a small tea stall nearby where we get our morning break and talk to the other shopkeepers. It’s just me and a couple of others here most days, trying to keep things organized. We've seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, but the types of problems people have with their batteries stay mostly the same. You learn a lot about people when they’re stuck with a dead engine in the heat. We keep the doors open even when it’s dusty because that’s just how it is. If you’re passing through Hanuman Pole, you’ve probably seen our sign hanging out front. It’s a small space, but it fits everything we need.
