Murli Auto Garage

Anand Mahal Road is a very busy stretch of the city. Murli Auto Garage is tucked away at Block No 5/B 10 which is near the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road area. It is not the biggest garage you have ever seen in your life. We have just enough room for a couple of vehicles and all our spare parts to fit inside. The walls are covered in old calendars and some posters that have turned yellow over the years. There is always a strong smell of petrol and burnt rubber hanging in the air while we work. I spend most of my time either underneath a car or leaning way over a scooter’s engine. My back usually starts to ache by the time we finally close the doors at night. We have a small tea stall nearby and the boy brings us glass cups of hot chai twice a day which is nice. The tools are often scattered across the workbench because I can never seem to put them back in the right place when I am busy. Customers come in complaining about strange clicking noises their cars are making. We listen to the sounds and try to figure out what is wrong. It is a lot of trial and error some days. The pavement outside is cracked and we have to park the finished cars very carefully so they do not block the neighbors. (250 words)
