Gurunanak Auto Garage

If you’ve ever walked down Anand Mahal Road toward the High Tension area, you’ve probably heard us before you saw us. Gurunanak Auto Garage is right here in Arunachal Society 5, and it’s usually pretty loud with the sound of engines revving or tools hitting the floor. We don't have one of those shiny showrooms you see in the city. It’s mostly just grease, old parts in corners, and a lot of tea cups sitting around. My hands are rarely clean, and the floor is even worse, but that’s how a garage should be. People from Subhanpura drop their cars off early in the morning, usually complaining about some weird noise their engine started making out of nowhere. We spend the whole day underneath vehicles or leaning over hoods, trying to figure out what’s clicking or rattling. It gets hot under the tin roof, especially in the afternoons, but we just keep the radio playing and keep working. Sometimes a job takes longer because a bolt is rusted shut, and that’s just how it goes. Neighbors pop in just to say hello or ask for a quick air check on their tires. We’ve known most of the families around here for years. It’s just us doing what we know, fixing cars so people can get to work the next day without their car breaking down in the middle of the road.
