M/S Essar Steel Ltd, Hazira

M/S Essar Steel Ltd, Hazira is based at G3/23 in the Nandniketan Essar Township. This is out in Surat, 394270. Like the other spots in the township, it’s a place that’s all about the industry. We handle a lot of the day-to-day operations for the steel plant from this office. It’s a lot of logistics and coordinating with the guys on the production floor. We don't have a polished corporate image here. We’re more likely to have grease on our shoes than to be wearing expensive suits. The office is small and efficient. We spend our time looking at spreadsheets and talking to drivers on the radio. The township has its own rhythm, and we’re part of that. We’ve seen the seasons change from this window for years. It gets very dusty, and the noise from the plant is always there in the background like a constant hum that you eventually stop noticing. We don't talk about being the best; we just talk about getting the job done before the sun goes down. Most of us have been working here together for a long time, so we’ve become a bit like a family. We drink a lot of tea and try to stay on top of the orders. It’s a simple, hardworking life in a part of Gujarat that never really sleeps. We just do our bit at G3/23 and go home tired every day.
