We are based out of units 16 and 17 in Udhna. It’s an industrial area through and through, so the air usually smells like metal and there is a lot of noise from the neighboring workshops. We deal with steel, which means a lot of heavy lifting and moving pieces around the floor. The space is large and open to fit all the stock. It’s not a place where you’d want to wear nice clothes because of the dust and the grease that comes with handling metal all day. We spend most of our hours checking inventory and making sure the measurements are right for what people need. The floor is concrete and has some cracks here and there from years of use. It gets pretty hot during the summer months, but that’s just part of working in Udhna. We have a small area for the desk work, but most of the activity happens out where the steel is kept. We aren't big on decorations or anything like that; the focus is just on the material and getting it ready. It’s straightforward work. Sometimes the trucks have a hard time navigating the narrow lanes around here, which can be a bit of a headache. We just take things as they come and try to keep the workflow steady throughout the week. It’s a gritty, practical kind of job.
