Our place is in Surat, over in the 395005 zip code area. It’s a typical Gujarat setup where we deal with steel all day long. The building isn't anything you'd see in a magazine; it's just where we keep the metal and do our paperwork. Every morning, we open up the shutters and let the air in, even if it’s already warm outside. Surat is a busy city, and there’s always someone looking for materials for a new project. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving around the inventory. There’s always a faint sound of clanging metal in the background, which becomes like white noise after a while. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us near the back. Our desks are old, and the chairs squeak a bit, but they work just fine for what we need. We don't try to impress anyone with big speeches or flashy displays. We just tell people what we have and what it costs. Sometimes we run out of things, and we just have to wait for the next shipment like everyone else. It’s a straightforward way to spend the day. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we know the local streets and the regular customers pretty well. It’s just us, some steel, and the daily grind in this part of Surat.
