Essar Steel

Our address is Plot No 46, Zill Panchayat Society, which is on Rander Road in the Tadwadi area of Surat. Essar Steel operates right from this plot. It’s a straightforward setup with enough room for us to keep the steel products we need. The neighborhood has a mix of everything, and being on Rander Road makes it pretty easy for the trucks to get to us. We spend our mornings going over the inventory that came in during the night. There is always a lot of clinking and banging as the steel gets moved around by the workers. We don't have any formal meetings or big plans. We just drink our morning tea, look at what needs to be delivered, and start the physical work. The ground is usually covered in a bit of metal grit, and our clothes end up pretty dirty by the time lunch rolls around. That is just part of working in the steel business. 395009 is a busy place and there is always something going on in the street outside our gate. We keep all our paperwork in some old metal cabinets that have seen better days. Sometimes the computer is slow, so we just write things down in our big registers by hand. It’s very hands-on and we don't try to impress anyone with how we look. We just make sure the steel is ready when people come to collect it.
